How helloVigo works
Set what you're free to do, see who's doing the same nearby, and turn it into a group. Here's the short version of everything.
1Joining something
- The "Near you" and "Happening near you" lists show real events people have posted, closest and soonest first.
- Tap one and hit Ask to join — the host decides who gets in, nobody's added automatically.
- The exact meeting spot stays hidden until the host accepts you, so asking never hands out precise details up front.
- Once you're accepted, you get a group chat with everyone else who's in — that's where the logistics happen.
2Making your own event
- Tap Make an Event, search for an activity (or make up your own), and describe what you're free to do.
- Now posts it immediately; Later schedules it for a specific time today.
- Set a group size limit if you want one, and choose Public or Friends only for who can see it.
- A photo is optional but helps people picture what they're joining.
- Requests to join show up right on your event's card — accept or decline each one.
- Done for the day? Hit End event. If people had already joined, everyone in the group gets notified.
3Friends & groups
- Add friends by searching their name, from anyone's profile, or from "People you've connected with" after doing something together.
- An event set to Friends only is only visible to people on your friends list — enforced for real, not just hidden in the interface.
- Hosting something? Use Invite friends on your event's card to send an invite — they still have to accept it before they're actually in the group, so nobody gets added without saying yes. Pending invites you've received show up under My Schedule.
- Every group you're part of gets its own chat thread, under "Your groups."
4Staying in the loop
- The bell icon shows join requests, replies to your own requests, and updates about your groups — turn any of these off in Settings.
- Turn on location and pick activity types under Notify me about to hear about new ones posted near you.
- Want an actual email before something starts? Turn on Event reminders in Settings, for 1 hour and/or 15 minutes ahead.
5Your profile
- Add a photo, up to 4 gallery photos, and pick activities and hobbies you're into — these help match you with people who share them.
- Your rank and badges are earned by actually connecting with people, not just by using the app.
- Anyone can view your public profile — it shows your photos, interests, and activity history, never your exact address or phone number.
Quick answers
- Can someone see exactly where I am?
- No. Location only marks where an event is happening, as a one-time snapshot — never a live-tracked dot that follows you.
- Someone I don't want contact from — what do I do?
- Block or report them from their profile. See the Safety Tips page for the full picture.
- I made a mistake in an event I posted — can I edit it?
- Not yet — end it and make a new one. Editing in place is on the list for later.
- Can I leave a group after joining?
- Yes, anytime, from "Your groups."
